The Silkworm's Scarf... continued
It looks like it's a hot topic, so I've added a poll to my sidebar for you to tell me whether or not you're pro- or anti-elective circumcision. (For the sake of clarity: 'elective' sort of means 'just for fun' - there's no medical or religious reason to perform the circumcision). I've included six answers, so that we can see if there's a difference in the way the general public and health care professionals feel about circumcision. Please take the poll! It'll only take five seconds of your time.
For those of you with more questions regarding the pros and cons of circumcision, an anonymous commenter was kind enough to give me some links to the Circumcision Information and Resource Pages, which answers some commonly asked questions. It tends to be a bit anti-circumcision, so in an effort to give be unbiased, I've also provided a link to this website, called Benefits of Circumcision: Medical Health and Sexual, which is a lot more pro-circumcision. This link in particular addresses the circumcision debate, and discusses the supposed stance of paediatric bodies on neonatal circumcision. Please read the articles with an open mind, remember that people with a certain stance on a subject have an ability to skew research or isolate quotes that enhance their argument, and if you are considering having yourself or a family member circumcised, it's really best to discuss it with a real-life GP or two, or even a urologist or two.
On the subject of links: just when I thought I'd dodged porn-hunters by leaving Milf's Anatomy behind, yesterday's post got me linked to by a website called The Penis Size Links List. Whoops! Initially I was concerned, but after perusing the site, my fears have abated considerably. The site does contain adult content, and advertises a lot of porn, but as the slogan says, the Phallic Master has been attempting to 'serve the information starved public since 2000'. There are many links to many answers to many questions that many people have - mostly relating to, well, penis size. It's unbelievable how much time people spend thinking about this. Go check it out: it's fun and informative, and should set your (yes, your!) mind at ease. It claims to be very unbiased - the Phallic Master proudly states that he makes all his money by selling porn and is thus not incentivised by drug or penis-enlarger-making companies.
On the results of my last poll: it was divided almost exactly down the middle, with half my voters being health-care professionals, and half of them not. Thank you to everyone who participated!

You post the phrase 'he has apparently trained quadriplegics to climax just by having their nipples tweaked' in your other post, then don't follow it up? How could you? Surely you can't leave that one hanging?
BTW, I don't think there's a lot of elective circumcision around in the UK. We seem to manage ok.

There's no way i'm going to that site from work. It will be way too embarrassing when my boss looks at the internet log.

I remember a Carte Blanche article about the feelings of emasculation some individuals felt after undergoing elective circumcision as babies. They apparently feel wronged in some way.
Peer opinion may have contributed to this. I believe that this reflects essentialist notions of personality. A miserable person who wins the lottery will become a miserable person with money. A guy with penis anxiety is still a guy with penis issues, foreskin or no.
